Common Grounds – Magic Rock and Dark Woods Coffee

Dark Woods and Magic Rock Common Grounds

When it comes to drinks which don’t contain alcohol, there is one that I am almost as obsessive over as booze – coffee. While I’m generally not a fan of coffee beers, there’s one that combines beer, coffee and whisky in a way that I can’t ignore: Magic Rock Common Grounds.

Mustard and Coffee – an analogy taken too far

Coffee

The internet is a dangerous place and Facebook is a collapsing mine of peril. Be wary of participating in ‘discussion’ as sometimes a throwaway comment can lead to blogging…

Iced cappuccino, you say? That sounds like a good Iced cappuccino, you say? That sounds like a good idea. My milk heater thing also does foaming of cold milk, it seems. The foam collapses quickly. But for a little while you get a rather impressive meringue of cold milk that works rather well with a spot of espresso. Also gives me an excuse to use my small pile of beer glasses designed to fit 330ml cans with a bit of head, as the folks I buy beer from these days have mostly switched to 440s…

When I headed over to burntfaith yesterday, I wasn When I headed over to burntfaith yesterday, I wasn’t sure what to expect, but it wasn’t a full-on Cognac-style Alembic Charentais in a Walthamstow side street. Spirit is running, they’ve got brandy inspired by whisky maturation in bottle, and there’s a load of interesting things coming down the line. I already have a long list of geeky questions to ask next time I get to visit…
.
I didn’t think that the first time I’d get to see a still from Cognac would be in London…
Finally made it to a London #ardbegday after years Finally made it to a London #ardbegday after years of not being about, or it being online. Heavy Vapours is a decent whisky, the cocktails were readily available and the face painting people defined faces ‘loosely’. Winner of the most photographed neck goes to the #mattsneck half of whisky4everyone and the ‘face painting that started looking like someone had punched you in the eye but turned out excellently’ goes to whiskyflaneuse. Like concentrated rum and raisin vanilla ice cream. Touches of bitterness underneath but lots of confected sweetness. It is what it wants to be, but a bottle is a bit much for me.
  • Billy A. is drinking a Dipafection by The Wild Beer Co at Untappd at Home September 22, 2023
Thick with hops and with a low carb to show them even better. Load of bitterness and pithy citrus with loads of juiciness. Not a hazy DIPA like any other. Much good.

This table has almost perfect lighting for beer pics :) Solid fruit and pretty thick for the ABV but still refreshing and light.
